I dont think that we are too sensitive when we pay attention to these sports stars complain. The people that care about sports pay attention and the ones who don't do not pay attention. If it's something that your interested in, then you will pay attention to anything that is associated with that and we will discuss it. Also, the media often makes stuff bigger and more complicated than it actually is and overstates and overanalyzes everything that is said in sports.
I think we as a country are definitely too sensitive. We get offended over such little things that most times are not meant in a bad way. Sometimes we take things the wrong way because we’re so sensitive and we think everyone is trying to hurt us. We think everyone is out to get us in some way. I think we are so sensitive because so many bad things happen and we think that every situation is going to turn out the way the others did.
The article "Are we too sensitive" adequately addresses a situation that is become ever more common in today's society. People react to unimportant things is such amazing ways, desperate to prove that they are better or somehow less vulnerable or weak than a big face. Everyone loves (well, aside from those of us who think they're stupid) a scandal in holywood or the whitehouse, because it means that those people that we look up to and idolize, have a weakness, and that weakness makes us feel better about ourselves.
We in society can be a little sensitive. It shouldn't matter what others feel or think about you. At the end of the day its whether you are satisfied with yourself and the things you do that matter. These athletes do however shoulder alot. You can't always expect them to be "good sports". Sports are intense and do tend to get the best of some. We as the viewers and society should remember that when criticizing them for their outburst and unruley actions.
This article focuses on one the most confusing parts of human nature, and one I have often either mused or disgusted. This article discusses whether emotionally based responses to disputes and disagreements(particularly insports) are a problem. The article states that sports used to be a more passive form of entertainment, but now has progressed (or degraded, depending on your view point) to become an involved, zealous, activity in which the actual sportsmanship behind it is now irrelevant. On my opinion, this is probably a bad thing as it inspires hate (and other irrational emotions) as well degrading rationality.
In the article the author addressed how athletes are made great by consistently taking risks and coming out victorious. I think that as long as athletes compete well we shouldn't criticize too harshly. Any normal person gets pumped about a game, whether they are actively participating or just observing. It is only normal that the athlete would react so strongly. If anything, it makes it even more entertaining for those who are watching. If we ourselves are not in their shoes we shoudn't judge or criticize to any extreme. In the end, society can be sensitive, but I think it shouldn't affect us so much.
Yes, I feel as though we are to sensitive because we shouldn't put these athletes on a stoop and complain every time they act as though they are human. Even though, they are suppose to superstars, they are still human just like us and if you worked super hard just to lose a stage before the world championships. I would be frustrated enough not to shake the hands of the opponents. I strongly believe that we should allow our professional athletes act human, and not become shocked and appalled when they do act out, yell, and agrue with other people. Because if you were in their shoes wouldn't you feel the same way and do the same thing.
Are we too sensitive? that is a ridiculous question, because we are and we aren't. We can see somebody talking trash in the middle of the street and we wont even pay attention but as soon as T.O. or Kanye insult someone, we are Stupid. We should just stop caring about celebrities and get pissed off at the people who can actually hear are critiquing comments. We are completely and utterly too sensitive.
I think that we are too sensitive; otherwise it wouldn't matter what the star, or anybody else has to say. Too often a fan would have an angered reation to something that was said out of frustration from the game. So getting all worked up is pointless becuase in most cases they really meant nothing about it. Also, everyday people talk like that and it never a problem, becuase they "are not important".
I believe that we are to sensitive when it comes to what famous people and what their actions. People should care less about what stupid things famous people do or say. When someone that is not famous does something crazy, no one really pays attention, but when Kanye interrupts Taylor Swift at the VMA's its just blasphemy? Im saying that if i went up on stage and took the mic from someone, i would just be some douche bag, and it would be over, but since Kanye is famous the whole world is just outraged at what he did.
As a human in society I believe that we as people are sensitive. In some ways people can be too sensitive. For example, the Mike Vick situation, it was not as drastic as everyone made it out to be. I mean that the situation was bad, but in a way people kind of took it too far because people protested and he spent a year and a half in prison for killing some dogs. Now that’s too sensitive because it was just a few hundred dogs, dogs can be reproduced…His career may not be. If it had been a regular person then it wouldnt have been a big deal. Anyway, people take things out of proportion if it is a dang sports god.
I think that we are too sensitive to what happens in sports. This is usual, though. Critics always attack famous people, whether they are athletes or singers. Being famous comes with the criticism and the appraisal. It is the job of critics to criticize famous people like Serena Williams and LeBron James. People should understand that most athletes are aggressive and get upset when they lose or things don’t go their way. The press is always waiting for a famous person to do bad to mess up their reputation. When they do get a story, they usually over exaggerate what happens and blow it way out of proportion. Athletes should be prepared for tabloids and seeing the lies that are made up.
In my prediction, We can be a bit sensitive to these famous athletes. We can talk about them all we want, but the important thing is base on the athletes themselves. Are they satisfied with their actions? That's what really matter. These athletes are just like us, human. They make mistakes and we can not always expect them to be good sports. People make such a big deal out of athletes outburst actions, but not if it just someone else normal.
i think that the athletes adressed in this article work extremely hard, and if they display extreme emotion during their competitions they shouldnt be so harsly judged.
This article focuses on our reactions of how athletes present their selves. I believe we react too miraculously when an athlete does something "wrong" on tv. It's like we expect them to act professionally when they're on tv because people look up to them. This article presents athletes that emotionally respond to disagreements or their failures-particularly in sports. One can argue that sports are increasing in popularity because of the sportsmanship behind it is now. People get attracted to this type of entertainment. I believe we shouldn't criticize athletes as long as they are competing well. Its understandable that an athlete would react negatively if they fail, but we shouldn't pay much mind to that because we all do it.
