Motivation

Motivation manifests itself in many ways. I am sure you all are aware of the story of Frankenstein. In the early 1970's there was a remake of the Frankenstein named "Young Frankenstein". In this story the creature is supposed to receive the brain of a noted scientist but of course Igor drops the good brain and replaces it with something substandard. But even The Frankenstein Monster is motivated to do well (as seen in the scene below). What does this imply about the strength of motivation as a basic human drive? 15 lines please.

  1. Well, this implies that the strength of motivation is very strong in human drive. Humans naturally strive to do well because of motivation, it is just something that is in us. It can't really be described in words why we are so motivated to do well. It could be because of our desire to please others, or maybe our desire to make people proud of us such as family and friends, it could be a lot of different reasons. Motivation is so strong in humans, it is something that every human is born with. Different people are motivated by different things but the basis of that motivation stems from wanting to be successful. Everyone is motivated to be successful in some aspect of life. Some peoples idea of successful are different then others but in all actuality, we all want to succeed.

  2. I believe that this implies that motivation can be stronger than your own impulses. If you were created to do bad but you have seen that it is possible to do good and the will to do so is strong enough you can change. Motivation as a basic human drive is seen as stronger than what you have been taught to do. It can cause you to revert from what you've been dealt. If your desires to change are strong enough than you will be able to do so. People are focused on what others think about them and how they will be accepted. If this drives you then you will try as hard as humanly possible to fit into the mold created for you.

  3. Motivation takes a great deal in human drives. Everybody’s motivation is set on different standards and for different reasons, yet they are there none the less. Motivation helps contribute to the great cause of many successes and achievements. Like Frankenstein, a lot of people are motivated to please someone else; it’s one of the biggest motivators. It contributes to basic human drives because it can make someone put fort that extra effort. Also for some, it doesn’t take much for someone to be motivated because it is a part of life, and getting through life. Without motivation, there would be no purpose for anything; and all the accomplishments that people have made would have meant nothing to no body.

  4. This idea of Frankenstein implies that the strength of motivation as a basic human drive is very strong. Humans need motivation to do a lot of things that are complicated and challenging. Humans even need motivation for simple things such as getting out of bed. Motivation is used in a positive way to assist humans to get something done. Without motivation, humans would most likely not care about anything they have to do and things that are important. Society would probably be viewed negatively because not many people have that drive to want to get things done and to be on top of their tasks. I believe motivation is a basic human instinct and the drive comes naturally.

  5. The story describes a creature with a substandard brain who has a normal drive to succeed. This shows that no matter who you are, what your capabilities are, motivation still persists. This proves that this is a biological drive, because even those of the lowest intelligence experience the desire to do well in whatever it is they do. Whether they are able to do it or not is a different story, but motivation is the driving force between everything we do and is the reason we continue to put effort into our daily activities. Everything that we do, for some reason or another, is for a purpose or incentive that we have decided on.

  6. Frankenstine was motivated to do well at his performance. In this film his mind is very simple and is basically a beast. While he was performing well, Frankenstine was having fun because everybody else was enjoying his dance. When a lightbulb breaks a fire breaks out on stage. This in turn scares Frankenstine causing him to scream. Because of this, the crowd becomes alarmed by Frankenstine and start throwing things at him on stage and booing him. Frankenstine then reverts to his beastly ways and runs around screaming scaring people. I believe that motivation is a basic human drive because when Frankenstine was accepted by the people he was motivated to be a good Samarita, but then when he was no longer motivated he was not good, he bacame a monster.

  7. The clip about the Frankenstein monster that was unable to act under the pressure of society when something like an unknown nature occurs. The monster would revert back to his nature, primitive ways and begin to become hazardous and dangerous toward the people of the audience. It does show the strength and power of motivation on a human brain for motivation forces people to conquer their fear or to summit to it. Like before a track meet, runners are motivated be their coaches to do well and make their coaches proud, so therefore they try their best to work hard at practice so at the meet they can give more than their best effort and actually win the race. This motivation of their coaches on their athletes are what pushes the athlete to surpass their mental barriers, which would only allow them to do mediocre like coming in 5th place out of 20 runners instead of first.

  8. I think the video proved that motivation is the strongest drive. Despite having some peculiar attributes, the monster still was motivated. It reinforces the idea that motivation is one of the basic but very important aspects of living beings. Despite whatever those motivations may be, they are still there. It differs from person to person based on whatever they would like to achieve, but every person has some sense of motivation. Its what drives people everyday in numerous activities. Individuals have goals they would like to meet, and it is motivation that moves them.

  9. One can infer many things from this idea. Firstly, considering that the creature's brain is "substandard" we could easily assume that motivation is a basic instinct that does not require higher thinking. Also from this, one could conclude that motivation is evolution. Those who had motivation obviously survied more often. Another thinkg one could infer from this idea is that motivation is a very powerful instinct. Powerful enough to (at least part of the time) overcome other (and possibly baser) instincts which would be detrimental to achieving the goal that motivates us to do what we do. Obviously this doesn't work 100% of the time, judging from the ending of the video.

  10. Motivation is something that every person needs in their life. Every person has at least one thing in their life that motivates them. Though you may have that motive, something may change or alter the way you are motivated by that something. Something may happen while that something is motivating you that may change the way you view it. Also if you happen to do something embarrassing while you are motivated you most likely will no longer be motivated by that thing. Some things we just have to deal with. In Frank’s case, the flame or spark just caused him to lose focus and then he lost his motivation. Also if someone is yelling in your face I think it angers you more than it helps to motivate you…

  11. I think that the video, in general, showed how powerfully motivation acts as a drive. Though he was "Aby Normal" (or so you might say), he was still motivated on a basic level by our drives, and by motivation! Though how much motivation would affect you, would differ from person to person, and from situation to situation, the basic drive is there. Because even this rather, strange beast was capable of being motivated, we can see clearly how a "normal" person would also be motivated. I'm motivated to finish this assignment for example so that I can not get a bad grade.

  12. As it is implied, the strength of motivation is very strong in human drives. Motivation is what keeps human striving to move forward and try to do better. In other words, I believe that humans are motivated to do better. Even if motivation is different for everyone, I believe that everyone is motivated to be more successful than they already are. Motivation is the thing that makes people put in the "extra effort" so that one day they can accomplish their goals. Without motivation we ,as humans, would not advance through civilization and perhaps, would not try to do anything extraordinary. It helps us reach our desires and dreams. Otherwise, life would be pointless.

  13. As Mr. Varano said, motivation is very powerful in human drives. Considering that the creature's brain was "substandard" we can say that "motivation is so easy, even Frankenstein can do it!" But in all seriousness, motivation is a basic instinct that doesn't require high thinking. Motivation pushes us forward, and even though the "motivation is different for everyone, we have a common goal- to become more successful and satisfy ourselves personally. In Frankenstein's case, despite his weird attributes, the monster was still motivated. The video reinforces the idea that motivation is one of the basic, but yet powerful instincts that is one of the very important aspects of living beings. Motivation is the driving force in everything we do because even those of the lowest intelligence experience have desires to do well in whatever it is that they do.
